Scores on the Doors

The scheme allows members of the public to see the results of the last food hygiene inspection by viewing the scores on the doors website, so enabling consumers to make informed choices of where they eat & buy food.

Improving safety through public access

Who sets the scores?

The Food Safety team routinely inspect all food businesses for compliance with nationally set food hygiene standards.
Each inspection results in the businesses being rated against these standards. These inspections are carried out with intervals of between 6 months and 3 years.

The final score awarded to each food business is indicated by a star rating, the highest award being 5 stars reducing to zero stars for the poorest.
